Purpose of the role:
As a Technical Lead, you will guide a talented development team in delivering high-quality, scalable, and innovative software solutions. You’ll set the technical direction, ensure best practices in coding and architecture, and foster a collaborative, high-performance environment. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership to mentor team members, solve complex challenges, and align projects with the company’s strategic vision.
You will be a critical enhancement to the growing Product Department, that manages the development of the following in-house products:
- Bombay Wallet - The key entry point and heart of the Bombay Product ecosystem
- Casino Management Software - Collection of Products and Back Offices used to set up and operate our Landbased Casinos and Wallet Customers
- Bombaycasino.com - Bombay's Online Casino extension
- Loyalty ecosystem - Product for rewarding any activity within Bombay Ecosystem
How you will contribute:
- Enforce high standards for code quality, including best practices such as code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration.
- Encourage innovation within the team by exploring new technologies and methodologies to enhance the platform's capabilities.
- Serve as the expert for complex technical challenges, guiding the team in diagnosing and resolving issues efficiently.
- Work closely with other tech leads, teams, and leadership to ensure systems integrate seamlessly and align with the overall company architecture.
- Provide regular mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering their technical skills and career development. Cultivate a culture of continuous learning.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviews, offering constructive feedback to help team members achieve their professional goals.
- Create a positive and inclusive team environment where members feel valued and motivated. Address any team dynamics issues proactively.
- Oversee the distribution of tasks within the team, ensuring workloads are balanced and deadlines are met.
- Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain top talent. Oversee the onboarding of new team members to ensure smooth integration into the team.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for the team, maintaining open communication with leadership and other stakeholders about progress, risks, and timelines.
- Collaborate with product management and leadership to prioritize work based on business needs, ensuring the team focuses on delivering high-impact features and fixes.
- Ensure the team delivers software on time and within scope. Anticipate risks and take proactive steps to mitigate them.
- Oversee testing strategies to ensure solutions meet the company’s quality standards before deployment.
- Work with product managers, leadership, and other stakeholders to define the long-term vision and roadmap for the systems.
- Ensure the team’s work aligns with broader business objectives and contributes to the company’s strategic goals.
- Regularly evaluate and refine the team’s processes and workflows, implementing changes to improve efficiency, productivity, and quality.
What we are looking for:
- 5+ years of hands-on working experience with backend technologies like Elixir or Erlang.
- At least 1 year of experience working as a manager of a IT development team.
- Experience with technologies like: Phoenix LiveView, PostgreSQL, Docker, Protobuf, GraphQL.
- Knowledge of any of the following would be a plus: React.js, Node.js, Next.js.
- Standard knowledge of HTML5/CSS3.
- Experience with PostgresSQL, Docker, and RabbitMQ.
- Good understanding of testing.
- Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, and data-heavy applications.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, and code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication.
- Willingness to learn new technologies.
- Previous experience in iGaming is a plus.
